Redshape – Alpha On The Rocks

Redshape strikes back again. Alpha On The Rocks is the last EP released on Present, 5th Present release to be more precise. EP has two tracks in a typical Redshape fashion, advancing even further after the previous brililliant releses like ‘2084, Unfinished Symmetry, Plonk, Blood Into Dust’ and many more. As soon as the tracks start rolling the unique and groovy RS sound start warming you up immediately. It is very difficut to categorize such record as only techno or just house as it spans across both genres. Though, it could fit more into house due to the slower BPM rate. Certainly, one of those records that fit into ‘not-to-be-missed’ category.

Joris Voorn – Balance 014

Balance 014 with Joris Voorn is one of the best mix albums in the series. The mix was created with Ableton Live paired with the Akai APC40 (Ableton Performance Controller) and the final result is astonishing mix on 2 CDs.
On his MySpace blog Joris explains, “The process of making this mix has been more like painting with sound rather than mixing the end of one track with the beginning of another. Working this way has been very interesting for me and made the project into something very different than a conventional DJ mix CD.”
In the process Joris reduced some of the tracks listed to just a loop, and with others he only used the break or the intro. “I’m sure I won’t be pleasing everyone with these mixes, some listeners will be happily or uneasily surprised, but at least it’s pushing my own boundaries in a technical, but even more so, in a musical and artistic way.”
Fabric 45 presents Omar S

Latest in series of famous Fabric mix sessions, 45th in a row, will feature Omar S and it will hit stores in Europe on March 16th 2009. The mix will have 16 songs all written, produced and mixed by Omar himself.
He is one of the many great artists from Detroit whose work will finally reach much wider audience and the sheer quality of his music certainly deserves it. 12 tracks featured on this mix are already released on his own FXHE records while 4 tracks are his previously unreleased material. His music is a testament of his uniqueness and the uniqueness of the Detroit city itself. His recent controversial interview on Residentadvisor.net might give you more insight on what is going on in his mind. This will be the really great mix worthy of every collection for Detroit sound fans.

It’s nice to see ‘good old’ Josh Wink active again. Couple years ago his massive ‘Higher State Of Consciousness’ was dominating floors around the world and his ‘Don’t Laugh’ (released as Winx) is still epic. His latest release on Ovum ‘When A Banana Was Just A Banana’ – album sampler is a double 12” album teaser. Album is already out on a CD but the vinyl edition is not yet released. Sampler has four tracks and at glance after 2-3 listening sessions Jus’ Right seems to be grooviest track ready to instantly grab your attention. Other three are fine as well and they will find their way to the dancefloors. Nice comeback, looking forward to the album.
